Peterokotni stolp na Ljubljanskem gradu

Izjava Jacksona Pollocka, da so njegove slike odraz njega
torej njegove narave, ki je on sam, je za tisti čas pomenila
pravo revolucijo v slikarstvu. Za abstraktne ekspresioniste
narava ni pomenila več posnemanja stvarnega sveta, temveč
so v njej videli globlje prostore, ki so jim odpirali neskončen
svet podob in oblik. Ves abstraktni ekspresionizem ima skupno
stičišče, da sta čustvo in spontanost pomembnejša od urejenosti
in razumskih pravil. Tudi za slikarsko izražanje Uroša Paternuja
je narava ostala večni navdih, ker je popolna v svojem stvarjenju.
V polju sodobne umetnosti slikar Uroš Paternu raziskuje
možnosti, ki jih ponuja dvodimenzionalno slikarsko platno.
Njegova umetniška govorica se je izoblikovala v devetdesetih
letih, ko je bila sodobna slovenska umetnost vezana za dekonstrukcijo
tradicionalnih likovnih praks. Slikar sledi modernističnemu
jeziku, za katerega je značilno vračanje k notranji naravi
in abstrahiranju. Vselej ostajajo odprta vprašanja, ki se
porajajo ob razmišljanju o aktualnosti slikarstva kot takega,
pri katerem imamo občutek, da se sodobni umetnik s klasičnimi
slikarskimi pristopi težko spoprime z razlogi za obstoj le-tega
v času in prostoru. Prav tu pa nam Uroš Paternu ponuja prepričljivo
motrenje, izlitje slikarjevega notranjega občutenja in osebnega
odnosa do sveta. Njegovo slikarstvo zahteva zrelega gledalca,
ki se bo znal prepustiti čutni percepciji in bo dovolil,
da se ga slika vzajemno dotakne.
Abstraktne slike, ki vibrirajo v močnih barvah nosijo v sebi neko skrivno življenjsko
energijo. Barva pri njegovem slikarstvu, predstavlja temeljno nosilko globljih
pomenskih vzgibov. Ti notranji vzgibi niso nekaj naključnega, impulzivnega,
temveč skrbno načrtovane in premišljene poteze in oblike, v katerih se skrivajo
neulovljiva doživetja človekove biti. V njegovih slikah ni prostora za trivialne
vsakdanjosti, temveč se slikar prepušča iskanju težko prevedljivih eksistencialnih
vzgibov.
Gibalo ustvarjanja čuti v nasprotju med racionalnim in iracionalnim, med logičnim
in mističnim, med vodo in ognjem, v podoživljanju sveta. Namreč, današnji svet
je le dozdevno in na prvi pogled urejen, pod to kopreno pa zija praznina emocionalnega
sveta, nad racionalnim poljem. Ravno tako pa je slikarjeva težnja v tem, da
si prizadeva ta svet zapolniti v njegovem manjku. To se kaže tudi v notranje
povzetem dialogu slike, ki odraža nasprotja, na višji ravni vzajemnosti med
redom in kaosom, v njeni formi.
Uroš Paternu je vsekakor eden od tistih avtorjev, ki s svojim delom potrjuje,
da je slikarstvo danes še vedno živo in lahko ponudi neskončno možnosti v poskusu
povzetja sveta znotraj in zunaj sebe.

Uroš Paternu se je rodil leta 1972 v Kranju. Med leti 1991-1995
je študiral slikarstvo na Akademiji za likovno umetnost v
Ljubljani in tam leta 2000 pri prof. Gustavu Gnamušu tudi
magistriral.

Text:
Jackson Pollock's statement that his paintings are a direct
reflection of himself, that is of the nature, which is himself,
was a revolution in painting. For abstract expressionists,
nature was not a mimesis of the real world, but a more profound
space, which opened up an indefinite array of images and
contours. Abstract expressionism advocated the supremacy
of emotion and spontaneity over order and rational rules.
Similarly, for the artistic expression of Uroš Paternu nature
remains an eternal source of inspiration, as it is perfect
in its creation.
Within the scope of contemporary art the painter Uroš Paternu
explores the possibilities of the two-dimensional canvas.
His artistic language evolved in the 1990s, when the contemporary
Slovene art was characterised by a deconstruction of traditional
artistic practices. The painter employs a modernistic discourse,
which is distinguished by the return to the inner nature
and abstractionism. When we contemplate the current relevance
of painting, there are always questions, which remain unanswered.
We almost feel that a modern artist using traditional painting
techniques has difficulty grasping the formal existence of
painting in time and space. It is at this point that Uroš
Paternu offers a convincing gaze, an outpour of a painter's
inner sensitivity and a personal relationship towards the
world. His paintings demand a mature viewer who will be able
to surrender to sensory perception and allow a reciprocal
contact with the painting.
Abstract paintings, pulsating in strong colours, carry in
them mysterious life energy. In Paternu's paintings the colour
is the fundamental vehicle for deeper expressive impetuses.
These inner impetuses are not coincidental or impulsive,
but carefully planned and premeditated strokes and contours,
which nurture the ungraspable experience of Being. His paintings
offer no room for everyday trivialities, as the artist delves
into the quest for the inscrutable existential impetuses.
He perceives the creative momentum as the opposition between
the rational and the irrational, the logical and the mystical,
water and fire in his experience of the world. The modern
world only seems to be characterised by order, but under
this veil there lurks an emotional void, hovering the rational
field. The painter strives to fill this gap, which is shown
in the inner dialogue of his paintings, whose form reflects
the contradictions at a higher level of reciprocity between
the order and the chaos.
Uroš Paternu is one of those painters who testify with their
work to the fact that painting is still alive today and can
offer a myriad of possibilities in attempting to reflect
on the inner and outer world.

Biography
Uroš Paternu was born in 1972 in Kranj. From 1991-1995 he
studied painting at Academy of Fine Arts (ALU) in Ljubljana,
where he also received his M.A. under the mentorship of prof.
Gustav Gnamuš in 2000.
