Podzemelj is a village that lais between two cities: Metlika and Èrnomelj. From Metlika is 6 km far and from Èrnomelj 9.5 km. Podzemelj borders on Republic Croatia and the border runs on river Kolpa. The crowded village on the south and west hillside of Kuèar (220 m) is because of its central traffic position the natural center of wider countryside.
The village is playing very important role in community of Metlika. Here is one of the three elementary school in community, fire brigade, the village has its own parsonage, local community, here is the football team NK Status Kolpa,....
