SCHOOL

The first school in Podzemelj was founded in 1859. The school building was built a year before. The second school was built in 1888. In Podzemelj was from 1946 till 1950 operating grammar school, which was later transformed in elementary school. In 1980 have in Podzemelj built the third school building with school kitchen, gym and sport court. From 1977 till 1992 was school named after engineer Janez Marentiè, but since 1992 is the school called Primary school  Podzemelj.

Into Primary school Podzemelj are coming kids from 19 villages in area: Boginja vas, Boršt, Dolnje Dobravice, Gornje Dobravice, Geršièi, Gradac, Grm, Kapljišèe, Krasinec, Klošter, Krivoglavice, Mlake, Okljuka, Otok, Podzemelj, Prilozje, Primostek, Škrilje and Zemelj.
