Kuèar is a hill that rises above
the Podzemelj. The closeness of the river Kolpa and width fields have offered
a great living conditions in the Prehistory. In the Iron age has Kuèar
developed into one of the most important centers not only in Bela krajina,
but also in the south-east Alps. From Podzemelj it is easily to come on
the top of Kuèar (220 meters).
The colony that has existed in Kuèar
was here in the first millennium before Christ and it was there probably
even in the Middle age. The population of Kuèar had barried deceased
in mound in the villages Grm, Podzemelj, Škrilje and Zemelj. The excavations
have been digged out before the World war 1, and they have been transfered
to Dunaj.
