On 21st of February 2005 we did a survey on light pollution among pupils of the Elementary School of Beli Manastir. As in the Second High School of Beli Manastir, we also translated into croatian language survey form that was used by the students of High School in Krsko. Upon our arrival, we noticed text about light pollution on notice board in the hallway of the school (Picture no.1). It was obvious that the pupils of the school didn't meet us unprepared and that they were familiarized with this term. Our survey involved all 8th grades (4 total) or 85 pupils altogether which attended school that day (Picture no. 2).
After processing the results we ascertained that 27% - or 23 pupils know what light pollution is while 73% - or 62 pupils don't. Grade VIII d should be emphasized as a grade that has shown an enviable level of knowledge about this appearance. 82% of them – or 18 pupils (out of 22 in total) knew what light pollution is. We found out that «the person to blame» for is their chemistry and biology teacher Anica Vujovic (Picture no. 3) who is currently in head of the school ecology project. We are using this opportunity to commend her.
Conclusion: SURVEY AMONG TEACHERS Survey on light pollution among teachers of the Elementary School in Beli Manastir was taken on 3rd and 4th of April 2005. We have asked 23 professors to participate in the survey but 6 of the haven't (or 23% of the population – a lot). But among 17 professors who took the survey 82% of them (or 14) did know what light pollution is while 18% (or 3) didn't. Conclusion: Survey at the Elementary School in Beli Manastir has shown us that both teachers and pupils are well familiarized with the term ligh pollution.
