In the past people used to enjoy watching the sky at night which displayed thousands of shiny stars performing their magic show at night.
Why in the past? There are already a lot of places where we can no longer see these celestial performances. In the majority of urban areas stars cannot be seen anymore. And what is the cause that our night sky is becoming brighter every day? The cause is bad night out-door lighting. The darker is the sky, the brighter are the stars. But our sky is illuminated with incorrect public lighting and in this way wonderful celestial performances are dimmer and difficult to see.
What is light pollution?
It is the radiation of light and public lighting directly or indirectly into
the sky. The consequences are enormous: from obstructing the work of
observatories, popular science research activities and disturbing the
migration of birds and insects to the uneconomical use of energy and
damaging natural balance.
