 INQUIRY - PUPILS

 In our wish to find out whether the students from the Second High School of Beli Manastir know or don't know what light pollution is, we made a survey from 17th – 21st January 2005 on light pollution.

For that purpose we have translated a survey, which had been used by the students of the High School of Krsko, in croatian language. Our survey has covered almost all classes from our school (20 out of 22) or 285 students who have taken the survey. The following school courses have participated: economists, commercialists, administrative officers, hair dressers, salesmen and bakers.

The survey has shown that only 5% - or 14 – students know what ligh pollution is (graf 1). It is interesting that almost half of the students (45% - or 127 students) think that light pollution is actually solar eclipse (graf 2)???

Besides that, 55% - or 156 students – think that light pollution has the greatest impact on plants (graf 3), while 38% - or 109 students – think that it is necessary to avoid such kind of pollution as it makes losses to powerplants (graf 4), but it is encouraging that 58% - or 164 students – think that by avoiding light pollution, among other things, we preserve electric power (graf 5).
