BrainEcho
Primo¾ Potoènik (2005)

Exploring the potential of neurofeedback and sonic neurotechnology for the research of expanded awareness. The project combines brainwave measurement, scientific signal processing, generation of binaural beats and live interaction of the human mind in a continuous neurofeedback loop.

The objective of BrainEcho is an online application with a full neurofeedback loop. Nevertheless, the audio samples recorded during the BrainEcho sessions can also be listened to offline for relaxation or exploration. Use  left click  to play, or  right click  (save target as ...) to download the following audio samples (format MP3, duration 15 min, size 18 MB).

  • audio1.mp3
Theta and alpha sound carriers around 300 Hz and 550 Hz, strong strong frequency and amplitude feedback, theta and alpha embedded binaural beats, filtered noise up to 6 kHz.

  • audio2.mp3
Delta and theta carriers around 200 Hz and 420 Hz, weak frequency and amplitude feedback, delta and theta embedded binaural beats, filtered noise up to 2 kHz.

  • audio3.mp3
Delta, theta and alpha carriers around 270 Hz, 400 Hz and 540 Hz, strong frequency feedback, weak amplitude feedback, delta, theta and alpha embedded binaural beats, no noise.

  • audio4.mp3
Low frequency mixture of delta, theta and alpha carriers around 220 Hz, 90 Hz and 170 Hz, weak frequency feedback, strong amplitude feedback, delta, theta and alpha embedded binaural beats, filtered noise up to 1 kHz.

video
Video capture of the main screen of BrainEcho software in action is available:

  • video1.avi  (format AVI, length 40 sec, size 28 MB)
shows recorded brain waves, corresponding power spectrum and generated sound power spectra.
