Pupils were invited to ask their grandmothers
about recipes of old traditional culinary specialities. The recipes
were then collected and written up as a book of recipes. Pupils of all
age groups joined in the activity. At our school this activity was a
great success. The younger pupils made bilingual dictionaries of foods
and ingredients. These recipe books were then sent to the participating
schools for the pupils, staff and other people from the vicinity to
try and make some of the specialities from the different regions. This
was a real exchange of culture.
