These two interlace and create an image that we would like to present to the world. A lot of wine which is made in Bela krajina is found all over Slovenia and the world but our area differences from the others. The ground mainly consists of marl clay and some organic admixture (product of disintegration of Cretaceous and Jurassik limestone). Until 1996 Wine-growers association of Bela krajina was the only association which consisted of three communities: Črnomelj, Metlika and Semič. In 1996 the Črnomelj community established their own Wine-growers association of Črnomelj. In the year 1995, when the Wine-growers association of Bela krajina consisted of three communities, there were 420 members. Today the communities Črnomelj and Semič have more than 1050 wine-growers of which more than half are also farmers. The two communities have 190 hectares of vineyards (90 hectares Črnomelj and 100 hectares Semič). Bela krajina Vine – tourism road All three communities co-operate in project Bela krajina vine – tourism road. Soon after the declaration of independence Slovenia tried to explore and protect the archaeological heritage, culture and history of Bela krajina. The road stretches from Drašiči trough Vinomer, Semiška gora, Doblička gora, Tanča gora towards Adlešiči, Vinica to Croatia. Along the vine road you can find wine-growing hills, Vine cellars, farms, archaeological attractions and cultural monuments. The Vine road has already helped in the growth of tourism and the reputation of belokranjskih wines.
