Myths and legends in Slovenia, Nežka Vodeb 8a/9
Kurents: traditional Halloween masks. Their appearance and dance, which give him rithem big bells around the belt, are very interesting almost scary. In the days before Halloween we can see them in Ptuj and Haloze, where they come from.
Predjama's castle: it was owned by the family Luegger. From this family was also the knight Erazem. The legend tells that Erazem defent the attacks of King Ravbar for one year. He got his food through the secret tunnel. Erazem was killed when he was on the toilet, when the castle was under attack.
Martin Krpan: he lived on the Notranjska, in a small village called Vrh pri Sveti Trojici. He was big and strong man. It wasn't difficult for him to lift his horse. He smuggled English salt and that was in those days forbidden.
One day, the Cesar asked him to save Wien from the giant called Brdavs. Krpan went to Wien and killed the giant.
King Matjaz: king Matjaz was a Slovenian King who lived in 14th century. He almost got married with Lencica. Lencica was kidnapped by the Turkish sultan who wanted to marry her. The king's army defeatted sultan and his army, so Matjaz and Lencica got married. But their happiness didn't last long because the Austrian people wanted Koroska. A lot of men died, but king Matjaz never surrendered. He rode his horse and some of the men followed him. They came to Peca and it opened. They went in and the cave closed behind them. They fall asleep and they will sleep until the king's beard turns around the table nine times.
Babji zob: in bled lived a dragon with seven heads. Once he had a toothache because he ate too many children. He went to see giant Robavs. Robavs pulled his tooth out. The tooth rolled down the hill and stopped in the cave, where it is still today.

Kurenti: tradicionalne pustne maske. Njihova pojava in ples, ki mu dajejo ritem zvonci obešeni okrog pasu, so zelo zanimivi, celo strašljivi. V predpustnem casu jih lahko srecamo v oklici Ptuja in Haloz, od koder tudi izhajajo. V predpustnem casu pa poznamo tudi Zelenega Jurija, laufarje…
Predjamski grad: bil je v posesti rodbine Luegger. Tega rodu je bil tudi vitez Erazem. Ta je, po pripovedi, eno leto kljuboval obleganju tržaškega glavarja Ravbarja, ker se je lahko oskrboval s hrano po skrivnem naravnem rovu. Erazem naj bi bil ubit na stranišcu, s topovsko kroglo (v napadu na grad).
Martin Krpan: živel naj bi na notranjskem, v vasi z imenom Vrh pri Sveti Trojici. Bil je velik in mocan clovek. Ni mu bilo težko niti svoje kobile dvigniti. Tihotapil je angleško sol, kar je bilo v tistih casih strogo prepovedano.
Nekega dne ga je cesar prosil naj reši Dunaj pred velikanom Brdavsom. Krpan gre na Dunaj si naredi orožje in ubije velikana.
Kralj Matjaž: kralj Matjaž je bil slovenski kralj, ki je vladal v 14. stoletju. Zarocen je bil z dekletom po imenu Lencica. Lencico je ugrabil turški sultan, ki jo je hotel za ženo. Vojska kralja Matjaža je premagala Turke in Matjaž ter Lencica sta se porocila. A nista bila dolgo srecna, saj so napadli Avstrijci, ki so hoteli imeti Koroško. Ubitih je bilo veliko vojakov, a Matjaž se ni vdal. Zajahal je konja in nekaj vojakov mu je sledilo. Prišli so do Pece in ta se je odprla. Odjezdili se noter in jama se je za njimi zaprla. Vojaki in kralj v jami trdno spijo in tudi bodo dokler se ne bo kraljeva brada devetkrat ovila okrog mize.
Babji zob: na Bledu naj bi živel sedmeroglavi zmaj. Nekoc je imel zobobol, ker je pojedel prevec otrok. Šel je k velikanu Robavsu, da mu ga izpuli. Robavs mu je zob izpulil z velikanskimi klešcami. Zob se je skotalil dol po hribu in se ustavil v jami, kjer je še danes.
