JESENICE
I decided to chose city Jesenice because I learned and heard a lot of things about it mines, ironworks,... . In town Mojstrana I spent many summer holidays and my grandgrandmother worked in a hotel in Mojstrana. Jesenice is on the way to Kranjska gora and lays before Mojstrana.
History of Jesenice:
Begining of city Jesenice is connected with ironworks near the river Sava . And ironworks marked Jesenice as industry place in this region. All around mountains of woods which means energy.
Economic development mines and ironworks in Jesenice and neighbourhood it begun in the end 14. century with “mines order”. Beside ironworks on Sava , Javornik, Plavž and Murovi were also in Mojstrana, Radovna and Bohinj. First one's of ironworks were property of Italian people.
In other half of 18. century was ex Bucelleni property bought by Valentin Ruard, who started to spread and to renew mines from Fenta to Kocna. Lot of mine fields in the Karavanke were possessed by Žiga Zois and he was also owner of ironworks in Bohinj, Radovna and on Javornik. Zois was first rich man and the strongest ironworker on land of Kranjska .
After that when Zois and Ruard fell in a money troubles, city Jesenice were becoming well-built city. And city was developing many other branches as culture, sport activities , tourism, trading, schooling and catering industry and more.
The places worth seeing:
- Tunnel Karavanke
- Savske caves
- ex Post office and inn
- Grammar school on Cufar's square
- Tone Cufar's teather
- Stefan's sing
- Chapel on crossing
- farm house
- Blazunov's granary
- natural bridge
And now I'll tell about natural bridge:
Natural bridge on Mežaklja is interesting natural appearance. It arised beacuse erosion working of water. It's long about 15 meters and high about 8 meters and wide 3 meters .
On Jesenice the ironwork is still working but this industry is now much friendly to people and nature.
