MONUMENTS - A NEW FORM OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE

Monuments are architectural products characterised by complicated symbolic and ethical values. They incorporate the humanistic and scientific perceptions of values and impact of historic events and figures.
Historic protagonists and their works are at the very centre of cultural heritage. Monuments and their projects have always been inspired by political events, technological and technical achievements, the initiators and elaborators of historical movements and the proposers of scientific theories.
The richness of expression, the mastery with which the plans have been conceived and executed, the use of high-tech construction techniques and the daring implementation of tectonics represent a challenge in the comprehension, representation and conservation of this exclusive architectural heritage. The cultural heritage incorporated in these sublime examples of architecture respresents methodological samples applicable to the teaching of architects.
