Letter 4 - My community

Hi Nicklas!

Thank you for your letter I enjoyed reading about your Christmas and New Year. Your video was very good specially singing in the church –St.Lucia. Now I am going to tell you about my community. My community is called Nova Gorica. In Nova Gorica there are only 30 000 inhabitants.

Gorica is a young town, about 50 years old. The symbol  in our  coat-of-arms is a rose, because here we have very mild climate. We don’t have a hospital in Nova Gorica but we have it in the nearest town Sempeter. I was born there. In Nova Gorica we have a big football stadion next to it there is a swimming pool and some tennis courts. 20 kilometres away from Nova Gorica (in Italy) there is the nearest sea coast called Adriatic Sea. We swim there in summer. Near Nova Gorica we have some interesting and old museums. Nova Gorica is close to Italian Gorica. There is just a fence between the two towns.
We have a new theatre and a big modern library in the town centre.

In Solkan there is the river Soča. On the Soča we do kayaking and swim in summer. Some well known kayakers are from here. My schoolmates are also good in Kayak. In Nova Gorica we have a big shopping centre called Merkator. 

Around Solkan there are three hills named Sabotin, Kekec and Sveta Gora (saint Mountain) where there is a big church, a monastery and a museum of the 1^st world war.

I play handball. In the past I played football. But I quitted it because of our coach. He was too severe.
