Pinguicula vulgaris subsp. carniolica (subsp. nova)

On location some 10 km away from others, Jean Michael Kocjan found a variety of P. vulgaris with light blue sepals. Population is self fertile, seed capsule falls down the earth before seeds are mature, so seedlings germinate in tufts. The plants flower in first part of June and turns to winter hibernation in August. The taxonomic status is still unclear (like P. bohemica or P. vulgaris var. bicolor or P. polonica). In the meantime I call it Creina (part of Slovenia in middle age) bladderwort, first published as South-alpine common bladderwort (P. austroalpina).

Pinguicula carniolica in habitat on south edge of Julian Alps is a member of Pinguicula vulgaris complex.
