Part three - Central Park

Sunday June 6th 1999

From the UN, we walked to Central Park, which, it being Sunday, was heaving with people out to relax and unwind from the efforts of the week. The atmosphere was fun and lively, and there were all sorts of things going on, and despite the relentless heat, people were still very active.

We were drawn from a fair distance by the fabulous sound of drum music, and it was at the Bethesda Fountain that we came across two excellent drum bands entertaining the large crowds:

Although the picture is not terribly clear, the staircase in the background is ornately carved.
