Notes:

1. James CUNNINGHAM and Janet MILLER were married Dec 6 1800 in Creich, Fife. They had three children before moving to Abdie (Janet chr. Oct 11 1801 and James Low, chr. 21 Aug 1803, both in Kettle; and Robert chr. Jul 17 1805 Newburgh).

2. The George CUNNINGHAM who died in 1861 was christened in Cupar on Apr 1 1780 as George CUNNINS. His parents were Robert CUNNINGHAM and Margaret FORRESTER, who were married 25 Oct 1771 (or 28 Sep 1771) in St Andrews and St Leonards. They had at least five other children (Margaret chr. Jun 28 1772 St Andrews and St Leonards; James chr. Feb 20 1774 Ceres; Robert chr. Apr 28 1776 Cameron; John May 10 1778 Cupar; Anne Jul 6 1788 Cupar).

3. George CUNNINGHAM (married to Mary HONEYMAN) was my third great grandfather. Naming patterns suggest that his parents would have been James and Janet, and for a number of other reasons, I believe that he is in fact the son of James CUNNINGHAM and Janet MILLER. My reasoning behind this can be found at note 5.

4. Robert CUNNINGHAM and Grace CURR were married Nov 17 1871 at Craigmill, Newburgh. His wife Grace died in 1878 at the age of 33.

5. Andrew Walker CUNNINGHAM is the son of George CUNNINGHAM and Mary HONEYMAN. He married Barbara Watson MCFARLANE at Kingsbarns on Nov 24 1873. Interestingly, his marriage certificate lists his parents as George Cunningham MILLER and Mary Cunningham MILLER m.s. HONEYMAN. This suggests that George Cunningham changed his name to MILLER (perhaps because of an inheritance).Now, given that the 1881 census for Kinleith Farm, Creich lists George C MILLER (aged 67, born Abdie), Mary (aged 73, born Cupar), their son George CUNNINGHAM (aged 37, born Abdie) and grandson George CUNNINGHAM (aged 7, born Abdie). This would suggest that George CUNNINGHAM married to Mary HONEYMAN was in fact the George Simson CUNNINGHAM chr. Aug 16 1813, as the age on the census would also match.

6. Mary Ann CUNNINGHAM who married John GRAHAM was the daughter of George CUNNINGHAM and Mary HONEYMAN.
