Photography

"Photography is like a sketch, like a exect drawing for a bigger painting or video film. Sometimes photography can be just a snap shot and that's what i like to do in photography - snapshots. I like frozen moments, they're even more intimate then moving pictures."

PHOTO BOOK
From Ontario To New York

The first time I was virtually in the USA and Canada was in the late 1970's when my parents showed me their magical slideshows of dia-positives and Super 8 films that they had made with their musical band. When I observed these great images screened on our kitchen wall from the projector, as a kid I got some private insights and felt the richness of faraway lands across the Atlantic. I loved the feeling of light, and even though sometimes out of focus, of the so realistic snap shots that dad took with his Zenit or Praktica camera.

In the summer of 2011 when I was part of the vocal band Perpetuum Jazzile touring around the USA and Canada, I again experienced the same imagery that my parents brought home with them years ago. It struck me that I was following their steps with being on tour with a band, visiting some of the same cities that they did, and I even used the same photo lens that they did back then. I think that this book captures a bit of nostalgia, memories, and family connections usually called coincidences. Sometimes photos provoke visual questions about time, feelings, and the circle of life. And yes, there is music playing in the background and it feels good.
