Umek is currently working on a remix of a song titled Scarlet
Letter, which the band has prepared for their third solo album.
The remix is to appear on Umek's new album. More on Niowt-Umek
collaboration soon

AWARDED At SKUP 2003
At the closing night ceremony of the Second Slovene Festival Of
Chamber Theatre at Ptuj, Niowt received an award for original
score and soundtrack for Matjaž Pograjc's
performance Play It Again, Caligula (produced by SMG, Ljubljana).
The festival featured ten contesting professional Slovene theatres,
competing for the awards. The award for best actress went to Pia
Zemljič, Radko Polič received the best actor award and director
Samo S. Strelec was selected the best director. The award of the
audience went to the SNG Drama performance Izboljševalec sveta
(The Improver of the World).
"Authorial re-interpretation of models from the musical
past harmoniously corresponds to the directorial interpretation
of the text in an excitingly fresh and innovative manner,"
read the argumentation for the best score and soundtrack award,
proving to both the band and director Pograjc the theatre medium,
too, allows the synergy of seemingly "unusual" collaborations.
Pograjc is, in fact, known for his collaborations with rock musicians
and bands (Demolition Group, Silence), skilfully relying upon
their inspiration and distance from the genre conventions, which
heavily contributes to freshness and originality of his projects."
Considering the emphasis Niowt lay on the finalisation of
the sound, the contribution of Miha Klemenčič to the over-all
musical and sound image of the project is by no means just technical.
With the music for Play It Again, Caligula, his knowledge of contemporary
sound, engineering and his musical sensitivity no doubt came to
full effect.

Finishing
the theatre project, the band will concentrate on completion of
the third album, there are also quite a few interesting collaborations
with renowned musicians planned for this year, so it is largely
unlikely that the band will appear live before Autumn 2003 - yet
then with new material as well as more concrete dates of the third
record's release.

ON BELGIAN COMPILATION Venusa XX Part II
Niowt were selected among 250 contestants from all around the world
to appear on the distinguished Belgian compilation Venusa XX part
II, a collection of female vocals in contemporary electronic music.
The CD is published by Belgian label Alfa Matrix in collaboration
with Belgian magazine Side-Line and distributed worldwide. The
compilation consists of 32 tracks by different bands, among
them also the latest project of Mr. Depeche Mode Andrew Fletcher,
titled Client, and bands such as Pzycho Bitch, Hungry Lucy, Regenerator,
Mnemonic, Lunascape, Nebula-H and others. Niowt participates with
Peter Penko's (Coptic Rain, April Nine) dance remix of Loverboy.
The official date of the double CD release is December 6 2002, it
can, however, be ordered at www.alfa-matrix.com
