THE USE OF INTERNET AT SCIENCE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Povzetek

Živimo v času hitrega razvoja znanosti in sodobne komunikacijske tehnologije, ki nam omogoča nove in učinkovitejše oblike dela tudi v šoli. Sva učiteljici na razredni stopnji osnovne šole in predstavljava izkušnje pri uporabi računalnika pri pouku. Z vključitvijo v slovenski Kidlink projekt Promet sva preizkusili nov način obravnave učne snovi v drugem in tretjem razredu pri pouku spoznavanja narave in družbe.

Abstract

Nowadays we face the fast development of science and contemporary communication technologies and both have great impact on the use of new and more effective methods in education. We are both elementary teachers at Solkan Elementary School and would like to present, what we have experienced while involving a computer and Internet in the learning process.

Being involved in the KIDLINK project Promet-Traffic we had the opportunity to try new ways of presenting, handling, learning and exchanging educational materials concerning traffic in 2nd and 3rd classes.

Povzetek

V prispevku predstavljava projekt, ki ga izvajajo dijaki dveh oddaljenih šol in pri tem uporabljajo različne informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije. Vsak udeleženec ima na skupnem strežniku svoje uporabniško ime in dostop do e-pošte, dostopa ftp in www ter foruma. Udeleženci delovne skupine se s pomočjo odločitvenega modela, narejenega s programom za pomoč pri odločanju DEXi, odločijo o kraju skupne ekskurzije. Izdelajo spletno stran, zgibanko, elektronsko predstavitev in obračun stroškov. Predstavitev najboljšega projekta poteka prek videokonferenčne zveze. Abstract

The project involves students from two distant schools, by which different communications technologies are used. Each participant has his/her own username and access to e-mail, ftp, www and forum. The participants in the workgroup decide upon a joint excursion by the means of the decision support model based on DEXi program. They elaborate presentations and web presentations as well as spreadsheet based costs tables and leaflets. The best project will be presented via video conference. DOMAČE BRANJE S POMOČJO INTERNETA

POVZETEK

Temeljni namen obravnave domačega branja s pomočjo interneta in sodelovanja dveh šol je vsekakor v tem, da bi bilo domače branje dijakom čim bolj zanimivo in prijetno. Ob tem pa naj bi dijak sicer zahtevne elemente, ki jih po predpisih učnega načrta mora natančno obvladati, spoznal sam na preprost in zanimiv način.

Prek interneta so tako dijakom dane možnosti medsebojnega komuniciranja prek izbranega sistema (Chat, IRC ali ICQ, e-pošta, www), pa tudi možnosti kritičnega ocenjevanja obstoječega gradiva na različnih naslovih spletnih strani.

Ob vsem predstavljenem gradivu pa je treba povedati, da prikazana obravnava zahteva veliko časa, ki ga je znotraj prenatrpanega učnega načrta težko najti (informativno - učni načrt za obravnavo domačega branja Tantadruj predvideva namreč le dve učni uri).

ABSTRACT

Studying literature at home can be made more interesting and enjoyable through the Internet by colaboration between students from two different schools. By such approach, all difficult elements and mastery of them as required by the curriculum are presented to students in a simple and more interesting way.

Websites enable students to communicate through the chosen systems (Chat, IRC, ICQ, e-mail, www) and to critically assess the current materials available on The Net.

Considering all the materials presented, we need to emphasize that this approach is time consuming and cannot be realised within the timelimit set by the curriculum. (For your information, according to the curriculum dealing with home reading of the short-story Tantadruj in class is limited to two lessons.)

ABSTRACT

Nowadays natural habitats are disappearing around the world at an alarming rate. Often they are losing to industrial and economic development.

The treasures these habitats carry are often not well known.

Slovenia, which has only 0,014 % of the planet's land surface, is a home to 1 % of all known species of plants and animals. In this country 25 000 plant and animal species are catalogued, but the experts assume that there are many more.

It is very important that students know, that we must protect the natural habitats with different species of plants and animals because of our survival.

POVZETEK

Danes gozdovi in drugi naravni habitati izginjajo zaskrbljujoče hitro.

To dogajanje je posledica industrijskega in ekonomskega razvoja naše družbe, katere člani se premalo zavedamo pomena ohranitve naravnega okolja za obstoj človeške vrste.

Slovenija, ki obsega le 0,0 14% vsega kopnega na našem planetu, je dom za 1 % vseh poznanih vrst rastlin in živali. Imamo 25 000 opisanih vrst, vendar jih po predvidevanjih strokovnjakov sistematikov tu živi veliko več.

Dijaki bi morali v času šolanja pridobiti osnovno znanje o varovanju naravnega okolja, ki ima bistven pomen za preživetje človeške vrste.

Povzetek

V referatu je prikazano nekaj možnosti sodelovanja v projektih Evropske unije, kot so Comenius in myEurope. Podan je tudi praktičen primer izvedbe celoletnega projekta Mi v Evropi, Evropa pri nas, v katerem so sodelovali vsi učenci in zaposleni. Še posebej sta poudarjeni vsebina in organizacija, ki je bila v tem primeru posebno skrbno pripravljena in je temeljila na piramidalni strukturi.

Abstract

Some of the projects which are supported by European Union as Comenius and myErupe are shortly presented. An example of long lasting school project We and Europe which merges many different European projects involving all pupils and teachers is specially described. The project organisation structure and content are particularly stressed.

Na področju izobraževanja je vse več sprememb. Ena takšnih večjih sprememb v zadnjem času je tudi uvajanje 9-letne osnovne šole. Z uvajanjem le-te se je posodobil ter na neki način spremenil tudi način poučevanja in dela. V razredih se pojavljajo računalniki, digitalni fotoaparati, tiskalniki, optični čitalniki in ponekod tudi priključitev na omrežje internet. Zastavlja se nam vprašanje kako začeti ter kaj početi z vso to opremo, ko pa vemo, da so učenci šele na začetku svoje poti opismenjevanja, hkrati pa jih računalniška tehnologija zelo privlači. Da pa otroci ne bi igrali le igric, sem se odločila za on-line projekt razredne maskote. S pomočjo projekta bodo spoznavli maskote sovrstnikov po drugih šolah.

In the sphere of education there are more and more changes. One of biggest changes in later days is initiation of 9-year primary school. This has modernized and in a way changed method of teaching and working. Now we have computers, digital cameras, printers, scanners and somewhere also Internet in class. And now we wonder how to start and what to do with all this, when we know that our pupils are just in the beginning of their education. But in the same time they are attracted by computer technology. I don’t want that they would just play games and that’s why I decided for on-line project “Class mascot”. This will help them to see and get know about the mascots of their coeval from other schools.

PROJECT: GOOD NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL AND OUR TOWN

POVZETEK

V prispevku je predstavljen mednarodni projekt Osnovne šole Ledina iz Ljubljane, z naslovom Dobre vesti iz naše šole in našega mesta. Najdete ga na naslovu: http://www2.arnes.si/~osljledina3s/dobren/dobrevesti.html

Namenjen je učencem od 9. do 15. leta starosti. Sodelovanje v projektu je odlična priložnost za urjenje v pisanju neumetnostnih besedil tako pri pouku kot pri interesnih dejavnostih (novinarski, turistični krožek).

Cilji projekta so predvsem:

odkrivati dobro in lepo v nas samih, v naši neposredni okolici in v našem mestu,
vzpostavljati prijateljske vezi med mesti po vsem svetu,
spoznavati različne dežele in kulture,
učiti se pozitivnega doživljanja sveta,
razvijati pozitivne vrednote,
uriti pisanje neumetnostnih besedil,
povezovati različne medije.

Projekt je nastal v prepričanju, da z vzgojo srca lahko ustvarimo lepši in boljši svet.

ABSTRACT

The article presents international project of Ledina Primary School, Slovenia, titled Good news from our school and our town on page:

The project involves 9 to 15 year old pupils. Co-operation in the project is a good occasion for practice of writing newspaper articles during lessons and other school activities (journalistic and tourist clubs).

The goals of the project are:

we are looking for the beauty and goodness in ourselves,
making friendships between the towns and cities around the world,
meeting with foreign countries and cultures
learning about the positive experience of the world,
progressing positive values,
practicing writing newspaper articles,
connecting different media.

With this project we want to show that the kindness of our hearts can make better tomorrow for all of us.

Povzetek

Projekt je nadaljevanje projekta Zdravilne rastline, ki je v šolskem letu 1997–1998 potekal prek interneta. Želeli smo ga poglobiti tako vsebinsko kot tudi glede pristopa k izvajanju posameznih nalog. Mentorje in učence smo želeli spodbuditi k delu na terenu. Poleg opisa rastlin smo dodali še temo o uporabi in zdravilnosti ter strupenosti. Prispevke 30 osnovnih šol iz Slovenije smo zbrali in uredili ter natisnili v knjigi.

Summary

This project is a continuation of the project Herbs which was carried out during the school year 1997- 1998. Our wish was to extend it according to its contents and also according to the way in wich the tasks were carried out. To the description of the plants another topic was added: the usage, the medical qualities and the toxicity of the plants. We received contributions from 30 primary schools across Slovenia that needed to be edited.

Prijetno učenje fizike z internetom

Povzetek

V prispevku so prikazane realne možnosti uporabe interneta pri pouku in neposredna uporaba nove metodologije pri učenju fizike.

Ker učni načrt za fiziko jasno določa cilje, medtem ko poti za doseganje teh ciljev niso strogo začrtane, je možno pri pouku fizike uporabiti sodobno informacijsko tehnologijo, če to dopuščajo pogoji na šoli.

Iz opazovanja aktivnosti dijakov pri urah, ki so bile izpeljane z novo učno metodologijo, in iz zbranih mnenj je razvidno, da je dijakom tako učenje prijetno. Opazna je tudi velika motivacija, razvijanje vedoželjnosti ter hitro in učinkovito reševanje zastavljenih problemov.

Abstract

The real possibilities of using of internet and direct use of a new methodology when learning physics are shown in this article.

As syllabus curriculum for physics clearly states the aims, while the ways to achieve these aims are not strictly defined, the modern information technology can be used during physics classes if the conditions at school allow that.

While observing pupils during physics classes, which were carried out with new teaching methodology, and gathering opinions, we noticed that learning is pleasant for pupils. High motivation, developing curiosity, quick and efficient problem solving are also noticeable.

Povzetek

Osnovna šola Jakoba Aljaža Kranj omogoča nadgradnjo učnega programa angleškega jezika s sodelovanjem v I*earnu. Sodelovanje se prilagaja splošnim ciljem učnega načrta devetletke z razvijanjem zavesti pripadnosti nacionalni in mednarodni skupnosti, spoznavanjem in razvijanjem kulturnih vrednot ter mednarodnim sporazumevanjem. Projektno delo v skupini omogoča sodelovanje in podporo pri razumevanju pisnih besedil ter pri sporazumevanju. I*earn omogoča raziskovalno učenje zakonitosti jezika. Besedila učencev za učence nadgrajujejo linearne učbenike. Delo učencev je kompleksno. Medmrežni osnutek popravijo slovnično v 'master classu' in oddajo tako osnutek kot izboljšano verzijo. Medpredmetno sodelovanje najpogosteje vključuje računalništvo, likovni pouk, angleški in slovenski jezik, zgodovino in zemljepis.

Abstract

Jakob Aljaž primary school in Kranj makes the upgrading of the standard school programme of English classes possible by participating in I*earn. The activity matches general aims of the national curriculum by developing the awareness of the national and international community, the awareness and development of cultural values and international communication. Group work enables cooperation and mutual support in comprehension and production of written texts. Grammatical target language rules are conveyed through I*earn's voyage of discovery. Learners' texts for learners upgrade linear coursebooks.The work of learners is complex.The draft form is corrected in the ' master class'. Learners submit both versions to show the improvement. The most usual cross-curriculum activities involve Computer Science, Art, English and Slovene, History and Geography.

Povzetek

Osnovna šola Narodnega heroja M. Pečarja, Črnuče, osnovna šola Store Magleby, Dragoer, Danska in osnovna šola Begonazpi Ikastola, Bilbao, Španija so se odločile za partnersko sodelovanje v projektu Comenius.

Sodelovanje v projektu širi obzorja otrokom, učiteljem in staršem, nudi možnost spoznavanja drugačnosti in pestrosti življenja ter izboljšuje kakovost pouka. Sodelovanje s partnerskimi šolami je priložnost za izmenjavo idej in izkušenj ter sklepanje novih prijateljstev.

Abstract

The N.h. Maks Pečar Primary School from Črnuče, The Store Magleby Primary School from Dragoer, Denmark and The Begonazpi Ikastola from Bilbao, Spain have joined forces in a school partnership to study various topics.

Taking part in the project Comenius means opening up new horizons for children, teachers and parents, it gives us the opportunity to learn about different cultures and it complements the educational systems of the participating countries. New ideas and experience are exchanged and we all find new friends.
