This  (happen) when Lily  (be) twelve and her brother Tim eight. Lily  (have) a little dog Rover.

One day Lily  (make) two beautiful, small cakes.

"We' (eat) them this afternoon," she  (say) to Tim. "You' (have) one, and I' (eat) the other one."

Their parents  (be) not at home that afternoon, and at four o'clock Lily  (make) some tea and  (put) the cakes on the table.

"Where  (be) Rover?" she  (ask).

"It' (lie) under the table," Tim  (answer).

When they  (eat), Lily  (shout), "Tim, quick, I' (drop) my cake under the table and there  (be) Rover!"

"All right, Lily," Tim  (answer). "I' (put) my foot on the cake."
