Beechen forest is full of birds, foxes, deers, rabbits, squirrels, sometimes wild pigs or even bears. But don't be afraid it's almost impossible to have meeting with wild animal. They are very shy, because Gorjanci wild forest is quiet and calm, to rest your mind and fill your soul with positive energy.

History

Very turbulent history is result of agitated events by the end of 12th century. This was the time when many castles and forts were built. In the year 1234 Spanheims set cistercijan cloister near Kostanjevica called "Fontis sanctae Mariae", in 1407 Celeian count Herman II built kartuzija Pleterje.

Many turkish warriors crossed area in 15th century. Some WW2 monuments are in the area, mostly as memory to herioc events and people from Gorjanci.

Many ruins are not very well investigated. Pligrim church st. Danijel where GeoCache* is hidden is in very bad shape. There's no evidence about this site, but it's placed in quiet place, suitable for short walk or to start route to the peak of Gorjanci.
