Handout
(printed in LANDSCAPE orientation
- 2 pages)
Objectives: you will find them in the upper left corner of the

Lesson 1
I. Warming up
a) With the help of the internet addresses (they are not real) on the
first slide of the Power Point presentation
try to elicit one of the uses
of computers – ordering food. Discuss the verb “deliver”. You can mention
that in the UK a lot of people get milk delivered, which is not the case
in our country (cultural component).
b) Pupils read the text from the second slide (scanning). Here we can
say that the word “pudding” differs a lot from what we know under the same
name.
c) Comprehension check.
II. Pre-reading
a) Form groups of 2 - 4 pupils. They discuss other possible uses of
computers and they take notes to be able to report later.
b) Group reports followed by the 3rd and 4th slide of the
Power Point
presentation for rounding up the reporting.
Reading
a) Distribute the handouts. Pupils read and highlight with coloured
markers the words (verbs) that describe the different uses of computers.
b) Check.
c) – f) Pupils are asked to do exercises 3 and 4.
