Gallery index
Notes:
List of all galleries contains links on the directories and
index files (html format) of individual galleries. In some cases index
files do not exist (e.g. bacause there was no time to create them), but
links to these index files are listed anyway because of which dead
links appear in the list. Please don't bother but simply ignore these dead links and try to follow the corresponding directory
links instead.
If you are browsing a version of the photo galleries directory
that is published on the web, you must expect that many directories
listed are not actually published (usually because of lack of space),
but they do exist in the original version of the photo galleries
directory. This will cause additional
dead links in the version published on the web. Again, simply ignore all dead links. It is
impossible to specially check all the dead links in every published
version of this photo galleries directory.
You may want to browse the directory itself
rather than search through this index page. In this case, just
follow this link.

Instructions
This page contains various photo albums from travels,
pleasure trips, and others. Don't bother if most of the text is in
Slovenian. Navigation is as easy as possible, just click on underlined
phrases and thumbs. Thumbs contained on this page don't represent the
actual galleries, they are here only for a quick preview. In order to
load actual galleries, click on links written in bold.
Albums are usually shown in two frames. In the left one there
are only thumbnails without text. Usually there are two links in
pharenteses such as (s,X) just next to every thumb. These are links
to the smaller and larger (original size) version of the corresponding
image. Clicking on the thumb has the same effect as clicking on the
link for a smaller image. Clicking on a link to an original size image
in the left frame of an album will open that image in a separate
window, which can be useful for large images. If image is larger than
browser window, then in most browsers you can click in the image to
togle between scrolling a large image and displaying an image that is
resized in order to fit in the window.
If you are browsing the galleries on the Internet zou must note
that the collections were not prepared specially for this purpose, but
a part of the files were just copied on the server disk. This means
that whole collections will be bissing and there will be a lot of
broken links within collections (somewhere just the large images will
be omitted) - please don't bother and check what is available.
For editing & updating, see the internal
instructions (in Slovene).

direktorij s slikami.
Interna navodila za direktorij
s slikami
Ta direktorij
vsebuje galerije fotografij in pomožne datoteke za navigacijo in
preglejevanje v internetnih brskalnikih.
Obstajata polna in okrnjena verzija
direktorija s fotografijami. V polni verziji so vsebovane vse zbirke
slik, čeprav
so morda nekatere arhivirane drugje, medtem ko so v okrnjeni verziji
potrebno vedeti, kje je osnovna verzija posameznih direktorijev in
datotek, ki jo lahko urejamo. To podaja spodnji seznam.
Datoteke, katerih osnovna
tega direktorija.
Polna verzija direktorija s slikami se trenutno nahaja v <ext.
disc>:/users/suzana/slike_osebno/, okrnjena pa v c:/users/igor/www/www/igor_slike/.
Kako se kopirajo datoteke med polnim
in okrnjenim direktorijem:
okrnjeno verzijo, kar naredimo v polni verziji), najprej brišemo
obstoječi poddirektorij v okrnjeni verziji in šele nato skoiramo
direktorij iz polne verzije. Direktoriji s
selekcijami morajo imeti osnovne verzije v polnem direktoriju,
namenjeni, jih v okrnjeni direktorij kopiramo.

About
this collection
This is a personal collection of photographs, edited (and produced for
the most part) by Igor Grešovnik and Suzana Repas. It contains photos
from our walks, trips, hiking, travels, and other events. We like to
photograph landscape and nature. The majority of pictures is taken in
Slovenia, where we can easily afford short one day trips. Hopefully we
will succeed to produce some collections from more distant places in
the future, such as the one from Egypt
;-) . It's not the case that we wouldn't have any
of these, but at taht time we did not havea digital camera yet
and there is no time to convert all those slides and photos to digital
form.
Most of the photos were taken by the Sony DSC-P120 digital
camera. Some were taken by ordinary camera with a film for color prints
or slides, and were scanned to convert to a digital form.
Originally, the directory structure with HTML files, scripts and
naming conventions was created for simplifying organization, storage,
searching and viewing our photo collections. It turned out that a
simple but extremely efficient system could be made with very little
effort. It took maybe a day to set up the whole system. Now it takes
less than an hour to extract 100 photos from the camera, arrange them
in the appropriate directories on the hard disk and set up auxiliary
files (including writing some basic data such as dates and places) to
create a browsable photo album. On the other hand, If you return from a
trip with 100 photos on a film for color prints, you will spend an hour
just to have the film developed. Sorting and inserting photos in an
album is yet another story (not to mention that you must go to a shop
and buy that album), and things are even slightly more complicated with
slides. Besides, storage and presentation may become a whole logistic
problem when ther's enough material. With digital galleries, things
will always remain sorted by date and it's easy to add sorting by any
subject you wish. Storage will never become a problems if you are
properly equipped, it is easy to multiply all photos you have and store
them a hundred or thousand kilometers away, and adding or modifying
comments is much easier than in usual photo albums. A modest set of
accessories are necessary to do the job well, in my case this would be
Netscape Communicator (for editing HTML files), Total Commander
(especially for its "Multi-rename tool"), BIMP (which makes resizing
hundreds of photos at a time an increadibly easy task), a modest
computer with some disk space and a CD or DVD writer) and some simple
software for full size presentations (in my case, Windows Picture and
Fax Viewer that comes with the system, can perfectly do the job, and
with no doubt it is easy to find equivalents for other OSs such as
Linux).
When the structure was built up, it was straightforward to put
everything on the web - either to provide access to our friends
or to anyone on the net. Practically the only additional problem
related to that is in space and bandwith limitations (and in Internet
access, if you want to be hairsplitting). Because of this, what we put
on the web is always a reduced version. Usually movies and large format
pictures with 3 mega-pixels or more are not included, and there will
never be all collections on the web. In order to spend as little time
for publishing collections on the web (which really goes down to the
times as short as 5 minutes for a single collection with 500 photos),
the file and directory structure was kept identical as for storage on
local media, which causes a number of broken links in web versions. The
deficiency is more aesthetic then practical, though, and as you can see
we did not invest any effrot to make things aesthetically perfect
anyway. For us, the essence is in contents rather thanappearence, so we
don't borher because of those broken links that will maybe cost you a
couple of empty mouse clicks.
