How a New Square becomes Reality

There are small cities in Slovakia, with rich cultural and historical potential of architecture, which became dissolute, their glory gorgotten. The original population was replaced by a new one, a small city turned into an undeveloped village, square dissapeared, the only remains of the former shape is the system of streets. An example is a small city in the Spis region in the east part of Slovakia. It represents a founded form of a settlement, it is a small city with the structure of urban space formed into a geomertical center. The loss of the square destroyed the magnetic power of common social life. The restoration of the whole city brought the necessary task of bringing the square back to life.
The origin of the square is set in the people, their feelings were the main reason for the beginning of the building process. People felt the need for meeting each other. The square is giving us a picture about the state of culture in the city, it is a sign of better people. Architectural solution of the square is a result of a wide range of determinants, it is a demonstration of spiritual and spatial harmony. Here are the churches, the mayor house and shops, the main streets meet here. It's the space for buzzling activity, as well as for the peaceful relax. Each square is an unique original with it's own face. Architectural design became reality, the square is a lesson for the restoration of the Spis countryside. The destiny of an architect is to live through both the good sides and bad sides, the square is a proof. Architecture of this work is a symbiotic meeting of a citizen oppinion and project intention. The square is a universal space for human communication and social life.
