Your

Solkan, a 1000-year
old town in Slovenia.

4B: We were very excited when our
teacher told us about the special flat boy from Canada, We
planned together what to show him and how to do it. Our
teacher copied the image and we coloured it in pairs.

When we finished we chose three best and they
were plastificated.

While he was here, these are some of the
exiting things he saw and did:
1. He visited our Solkan Primary School,
Slovenia and our English classroom.

2. We took him to our stone
bridge with the biggest stone arch in Europe. This bridge is
also a symbol of our school logo.

3.
He went with us to the 1st world war military graveyard
which is close to the bridge which is only partly preserved,
because of the bombing of the Solkan bridge in the Second
World War. |

The graveyard is near our famous
Solkan bridge and we can visit it only if we cross the railway. There are
sixteen lines of eighty-five tombstones. A big, almost twelve metres tall
monument and a specially arranged vault is the main part of the graveyard.
4. We admired our emerald the
river Soca together where our school friends compete in Kayak.

5. Virtually we took him to
Lipica about 40 km away from us
to the home of the Lipizzaners – white beautiful horses.

6. Then we visited
Postojna Cave (50 km away).
The mysterious Postojna cave world is the part of Slovenia which has been
carved, shaped and created by water; deep within these world-famous caves
hide the most precious beauty created through millions of years, drop by
drop, year after year...

7. Finally we told him something
about Slovenia in general and
we wished him a nice trip to other students all over the world.
The distance between Toronto,
Canada and my city SOLKAN is approximately 6908 km.
If Flat Stanley
came back to visit, he should wear winter clothes and summer clothes
because the climate here is different in different seasons. But the
climate is quite mild in Solkan. We don’t have snow because we are close
to the Adriatic sea. |
