and write what was in your mind as you were blowing it up

At the end of this event, someone will count all the balloons and then burst them.
This piece will then be titled: Memory Exhalation xxx, where xxx is the number of balloons in the holding area.

When I think of balloon clusters, I see a bustling public beach in Mumbai, or a market at some small hill-station in India. It is dusk, and the air is filled with children’s screams being drowned out by vendors shouting the benefits of their handmade wares, and the smell of fried fast food. And in this dusty mela the shiny balloons catch your eye. And then you see the child, his ragged appearance contrasting with what he is selling.

Mukul Deora

SHORT BIO:

Mukul Deora is a multi-disciplinary artist living in Mumbai, India. From pioneering electronic dance music in india in the mid 90s, Mukul moved to experimental sound installations and released his debut album 'Stray' in 2006, which reached number 12 in the Indian charts. In 2008, Mukul presented a solo show of sculptures made from silver and his own blood at the Ashish Balram Gallery in Mumbai. He has performed at the Tate Modern and the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai.
