Title of work: "NEW FASHION"
6 self-portrayals of the artist taken during the last 20 years. Every portrayal stand for itself. Together they build an ensemble, that seems to be anchored in now and today.
SHORT BIO:
FLATZ, born in 1952, lives and works in Munich and London. He became famous through spectacular, risky and partly provocative actions that were right at the threshold of pain. His actions always conduces to amplify perception, counter the human apathy and recall on actual political and social developments.
FLATZ – Statement:
I understand art as expression and manifest of my presence in now.
I conceive art as imaginary value, form of expression and state description of an individual, against the uniformed and imaginary values of a society focused on them.
I also understand art as a challenge, to broach the issue of ghetto-situations in our cultural awareness.
I want art as weapon, which forces the aesthetes into present.
I make art, that don’t allows to be taken by emotional clichés nor by sentimental stereotypes.
Art, that overbears and mutates established imagination of ethic and aesthetic.
Life means alteration
