Rojen 26. septembra 1926 v Ljubljani.
1943 - 1944 - obiskuje slikarsko šolo Mateja Strnena na Mirju in
risarsko šolo
Franceta Goršeta v Kolizeju v Ljubljani.
1944 - 1945 - julija 1945 interniran v koncentracijsko taborišče v
Dachau, od
koder se vrne junija 1945.
1946 - 1951 - študira slikarstvo na Akademiji za likovno umetnost v
Ljubljani,
pri profesorjih F. Miheliču, G.A. Kosu, B. Jakcu, R. Debenjaku,
N. Pirnatu in S. Pengovu.
1951 - 1952 - podiplomski študij slikarstva pri profesorju G. Stupici.
1953 - 1956 - izpopolnjuje se na študijskih potovanjih po Evropi (Pariz,
Amsterdam, Italija).
1958/59 - s štipendijo Moše Pijade se
izpopolnjuje v ateljeju J.
Friedlaenderja v Parizu.
1969 - 1984 - profesor na slikarskem in (od leta 1973) tudi na grafičnem
oddelku
Akademije za likovno umetnost v Ljubljani.
1979
- gostujoči profesor na grafičnem oddelku likovne akademije v
Monsu, Belgija.
1980 -
preseli se v Slovenj Gradec, kjer živi in dela tudi danes.
1995 -
razstava »100 grafičnih listov 1958 - 1995« v MGLC, Ljubljana
1999 -
retrospektivna razstava grafik v Galeriji likovnih umetnosti v
Slovenj Gradcu.
Od leta 1953 do danes je več kot stokrat samostojno razstavljal in sodeloval na številnih razstavah jugoslovanske in slovenske grafike doma in v tujini ter na številnih mednarodnih razstavah grafike. Kot razstavljalec je bil udeležen na vseh ljubljanskih grafičnih bienalih od leta 1959 dalje. Za svoje delo je prejel številne nagrade in priznanja, po letu 1970 zlasti za grafiko.
Biography
Born on 26 September 1926 in Ljubljana.
1943-1944 Attends the Matej Strnen Painting School in Mirje, Ljubljana, and the
France Gorše Drawing School in Kolizej, Ljubljana.
1944-1945 In July 1944 confined to the Dachau concentration camp, from where he
returns in June 1945.
1946-1951 Studies painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana under the
professors F. Mihelič, G. A. Kos, B. Jakac, R. Debenjak, N. Pirnat, and S.
Pengov.
1951-1952 Completes his postgraduate studies of painting under Prof. G.
Stupica.
1953-1956 Specialistic studies and study travels in Europe (Paris, Amsterdam,
and Italy).
1958-1959 Specialistic study holding the Moša Pijade scholarship in the atelier
of J. Friedlaender in Paris.
1969-1984 Professor at the painting department and (since 1973) at the graphic
department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana.
1979 Visiting professor at the graphic department of the Academy of Fine Arts
in Mons, Belgium.
1980 Moves to Slovenj Gradec, where he has been living and working to date.
1995 The ‘One Hundred Graphic Prints, 1958-1995’ exhibition in
MGLC, Ljubljana.
1999 Retrospective exhibition of his graphic works in the Art Gallery Slovenj
Gradec.
From 1953 to date he had over one hundred personal exhibitions, and
participated at numerous exhibitions of Yugoslav and Slovene graphic art at
home and abroad, as well as at a number of international graphic art
exhibitions. He participated with his graphic works at all Ljubljana Graphic
Biennials since 1959. He was awarded numerous awards and prizes for his work,
after 1970 primarily for his graphic work.
