 For two years we've had a successful handball club at Solkan Elementary School,
led by professor Samuel Brajnik. Students can join the school club when they attend grade
four and then they learn the first elements of mini handball. In grade fifth they are put
to test in the real competition circumstances, while students of grade sixth can already
collaborate with the Nova Gorica handball club.There are 30 students in our school club and
the training takes place twice a week.
The students showed their value already in 1997, winning the
first (those born in 1986) and the second place (those born in 1985) at the 'Day of the
Nova Gorica handball' tournament, organized in Nova Gorica for the opening of the
'balloon' the new sports ground covered by a big balloon.
 In 1998 the students of grade fifth won the first
place at the international handball tournament in Celje, surprisingly defeating Badel from
Zagreb, Croatia.
Our students also participated in the local championship of
the fifth and the sixth grades, winning the first place, too.
The students of the fourth
grade are also the leading team in mini handball league.
We wish all young players
much success in their sports career.
