Our school has welcomed several visitors in
October coming from partner schools within the Comenius project »Art
and Food«. We have been working on this project for nearly three
years, this being our final one. After very interesting visits toFrance,
England,
Romania and
Norway the time
has come for Slovenia as well.
Altogether there were 15 guests, 5 teachers and 10 students.
Metka
Vajdie, our project coordinator, has come up with an interesting
program for the meeting that commenced with an official opening
ceremony and welcome speeches by our headmaster and deputy mayor of
the Municipality of Celje, Mr. Stane Rozman. Our
guests were also introduced to the activities undertaken at our
school so far and the activities we had prepared for them.
Our
pupils (Urša Cmok, Asja Lednik, Eva Valentina Veljkovie, Lara
Ograjenšek, Alen Petek and Leon Firšt) first accompanied our guests
to the cooking classroom where they made bread souvenirs with Mrs.
Helena Škarlin. One group visited Mrs. Urška Sotler in the school
library where they made Slovenian lace imprints.

After
some hard work we went on a guided tour of Celje, followed by
visiting an organic farm, entered an archery contest and finished
the day with an outdoors picnic.

Thursday
was a time for sightseeing, so we visited Ljubljana and
the Slovenian parliament and tried to refresh ourselves with a short
stop-over in the Laško Wellness Centre.

On
our last day we also made beehive front panels in the library and
spent some time painting table napkins in our Art classroom with
Mrs. Urša Glavnik. This was followed by some sport activities with
Mr. Tone Golnar.

The
students then spent their afternoon getting their computer
presentations ready for the final ceremony which started at six
o'clock. At the ceremony the students were asked to present their
impressions and experiences of Slovenia as well as the
products they had brought and made.
To
wrap things up classes 9a and 9b organized a school dance in the gym
to make the inevitable farewell that more difficult. But even though
we were very sorry to see our new-made friends leave we were at the
same time looking forward to seeing them again in March at the final
meeting in France.
