• Born 11. XII. 1937 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Biology studies at the University of Ljubljana,
• graduation in 1960,
• doctoral dissertation 1964.
• 1961 research assistent at the Dept. Biology, Biotechnical faculty,
• 1964/65 fellowship A.v.Humboldt-Stiftung, Munich.
• 1968 assistent prof. of animal physiology,
• 1974 associated prof. of animal physiology,
• 1981 full professor of animal physiology in the same department.
• 1976-79 Director of the Institute of Biology, University of Ljubljana
• 1987 - 2001 working at the Slovene Museum of Natural History,
• 1992 - 2001 director of the Slovene Museum of Natural History.
• Since 1991 associate member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts,
• 1992 - 1999 national coordinator for Biology in Slovenia,
• Since 1999 full member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts,
• Since October 2001 retired,
