delovanje vedno znova poskušajo vnesti posamezne inovativne
postopke s katerimi oblikujejo prepoznaven razvoj.
do izraza, kadar primerjamo različne serije z določenim in
Vse omenjene
komponente sestavljajo celoto, pravzaprav eno večje delo,
barvne plasti skladajo v posebno likovno organizacijo. Ena
disciplin ukvarjali skozi celotno zgodovino. Gre seveda
in njihova medsebojna skladanja. In govorimo o ploskvah,
linijah, barvah in razmerjih, ki določajo njihovo mesto
v posameznem
delu.
A ta niso nikoli
povsem,
In
prav to daje tudi tej razstavi poudarjen avtorski značaj.
Boris Gorupič: Diverse Understandings of the Visual Sphere
The artists who are generally considered more interesting
are mainly those who again and again try to incorporate into
their work innovative approaches that shape their
unique development. This establishes certain differences
between individual works, while their comparison discloses
the author’s pursuits. These differences come to the fore
even more when we compare various series with a specific
and recognisable character. The exhibition of Jože Marinč’s
new works represents a transition from one creative period
to another, or is in short, a show that essentially differs
from what is otherwise typical of his work. For the current
exhibition, the artist has prepared a series that is part
architectural interior design, part fine arts installation
and part painting. All the components constitute a whole,
in fact, a single large piece, which emphasises an interdisciplinary
approach to various techniques. The architectural feature
is especially prominent, since the exhibition is designed
so as to essentially change the character of the entire space.
Individual parts extend to all available surfaces, creating
depth on previously two-dimensional
background. At the same time, each work is additionally manipulated
through painting, which creates monochromatic effects, as
each surface is painted in only one colour tone. The surfaces
constitute a figure with geometrically rectangular forms
in which the mentioned colour layers come together in a specific
visual composition. A special feature of this exhibition
is the composition which is repeated in completely identical
variants, and perhaps it would be possible to say that, in
fact, there is only a single work on show that adds up as
one moves along. But this is not the case, of course. It
is the previously mentioned architectural character, which
assigns to each element of the installation a precisely determined
place in the gallery that is essential to this layout. What
is important here, more than at an ordinary exhibition, are
the relations that determine the arrangement of individual
pieces; that is, it is a matter of precisely determined proportions,
as well as the surfaces where they are placed. We can say
that this is, after all,
a completely classic exhibition, which confronts us with
basic questions, the kind fine artists of various disciplines
have always addressed. The point is in the highlights that
originate from constants and can never be adequately replaced
by something new; we only know of different variations and
their mutual correlations,
and can speak of surfaces, lines, colours and proportions
that determine their place in a particular work. In this
respect, the artist today is faced with the same guidelines
as artists from periods in which the rules seemed more strictly
defined. They never really are completely, however; everyone
discovers heir determinations in their own way. Which is
precisely what gives this exhibition a decidedly personal
haracter.
