SCHOOL'S HISTORY

In the 18th century the lessons were held in Dol’s manor, and later on in Jub factory.

School’s exclusive opening was on September 12, 1954.
At first it was a small school with only 4 classrooms. Also the school district was much smaller than it is today. Through the years the building became bigger and bigger, and also the school district expanded, especially for students in the Middle Years Programme.

Throughout the years 1965 - 1970 children from Podgorica and Šentjakob registered as students. A very  contemporary gymnasium was being built in that time, and school in Šentjakob became a Branch School of Dol pri Ljubljani Primary School.
In 1974 the school got an extension with 9 classrooms. Moreover, children from Dolsko and Križevska vas registered as students at Dol pri Ljubljani Primary School.

But the school was still too small. In years 1985 - 1990 afternoon lessons were held for Middle Years Programme students. That was unacceptable, because a lot of students were commuters. In 1991, time of Slovenia’s independence, an extension with 6 classrooms was built and the school got permanent conditions for one shift lessons.

The Dol pri Ljubljani commune was established in 1995. Schools that were once branch schools of Polje Primary School joined soon after. These schools were: Dolsko, Senožeti and Križevska vas (which was closed in 1997 due to lack of students). The kindergarten in Dolsko that once belonged to Zalog Kindergarten, also merged with our school in 2004.
