When the Rainbow is in a Computer

When you think about the rainbow, you always get this image of a strange curve with different tones of colors all over the sky. But, what do you do when you start finding rainbows inside of computer. You just say to yourself: things have changed! And it is definitely true. Sašo Vrabič is the one who has achieved to introduce this magic illusion in the concrete language of informatic. In his short video, called Arcobaleno, colors are just rhythmically combining in front of our eyes in a sort of unusual and rational language which is giving us from time to time some information, which are as much as cryptic as the chromatic game is. At this point it is necessary to understand to what Sašo refers when he mansions certain statements, like "c2000 ZX Generated Lab Ltd," which seems to be a computer program, but in fact it relates to the group of young artists who are emerging in Ljubljana at the moment. Being called the ZX generation, they are exploiting the opportunities offered by the new technologies in art. As you can see, from the Sašo Vrabič video, all of a sudden the artist with his work is able to translate the rational language of the computer and to play with it by introducing elements which are basically the opposite. When this process becomes clear, you really start seeing the rainbow in the computer!!

Wenn in einem Computer der Regenbogen auftaucht

Wenn du au einen Regenbogen denkst, kommt dir meistens das Bild einer seltsamen Kurve mit unterschiedlichen Farbtönen in den Sinn, die sich über den ganzen Himmel ausbreiten. Aber was machst du, wenn auf einmal ein Regenbogen in einem Computer auftaucht?
Du sagst zu dir selbst: Die Dinge haben sich geändert! Und das ist jedenfalls wahr. Sašo Vrabič ist einer, der Informatik umzusetzen. In seinem Kurzvideo Arcobaleno vereinen sich die Farben rhytmisch vor unseren Augen in einer ungewöhnlichen und rationellen Sprache, die uns von Zeit zu Zeit Informationen liefert, die genauso kryptisch wie das chromatische Spiel sind sind. An dieser Stelle ist es wichtig zu verstehen, worauf sich Sašo bezieht, wenn er Statements wie "c2000 ZX Generated LAb Ltd" verlautbart, die wie ein Computerprogramm klingen, sich aber in Wirklichkeit auf eine Gruppe junger aufstrebender KünstlerInnern in Ljubljana beziehen, die ZX Generation genannt wird und die Möglichkeiten der neuen Technologien in ihrer Kunst nützt. Wie anhand des Sašo Vrabič Videos zu sehen ist, kann der Künstler mit seinem Werk die rationalle Sprache des Computers übersetzen und damit spielen, indem er beginnt man wirklich, den Regenbogen im Computer zu entdecken!
