1992_
- Mojca Krevel and Peter Senk are invited to write the music for a theatre
project and decide to continue working together;
- the band is formed.
1993_
- first concert in January;
- first studio recordings. The two songs recorded, PASTICHE and STANDING
HERE played on most of Slovenia's radio stations.
1994_
- NIOWT starts to appear in the press. Concerts in Ljubljana.
1995_
- NIOWT plays a number of gigs throughout Slovenia. Slovenia's leading
producer Janez Krizaj known especially for his work with Laibach-contacts
the band;
- PASTICHE appears on a compilation CD "DESNA SCENA";
- five tracks are recorded with Janez Krizaj and released by Panika Records
as a promo-tape.
1996_
- NIOWT plays at Slovenia's most prestigious alternative music festival
Novi Rock;
- the band is approached by Peter Penko /Coptic Rain, April Nine/ and
the material for the first album, recorded at Penko's studio Raingarden
9, is finished in November.
1997_
- on 15th November Chrom Records from Berlin, Germany, release the first
album NIOWT;
- NIOWT are invited to play at the traditional Zillo X-mas festival, playing
gigs in Bochum, Stuttgart, Mainz, Potsdam and Chemnitz;
- the opening piece of the album, "City", appears at the Gothic
Magazine compilation CD;
- interviews for Zillo, Orkus, Gothic Magazine, Black, Vision.
1998_
- the album appears at the DAC chart and stays there for 5 weeks. Second
piece from the album "Horizon" appears at the Music Express
magazine compilation CD and tops the club chart of the City Center / Loebau
only a week later;
- responses from Italy (an interview for a metal magazine Grindzone),
the album is distributed in Austria.
1999_
- the band wins Slovene alternative music award Marsev Gojzar in the categories
Best album/ band of the year 1998, Best song of the year 1998 (City);
- recording the second album with a working title Loverboy at Penko's
Raingarden 9 studio;
- in June a new bass player Bojan Brajkovic joins the band;
- additional guitar player Jernej Jurc is welcomed in the band in November.
2000_
- completion and finalization of the second album Loverboy;
- playing at Summer festivals e.g. Beachbum - Venice, Nuvolari Libera
Tribu - Cuneo, Trnfest
Ljubljana;
- supporting Him at the Hala Tivoli concert hall, Ljubljana;
- starting promotional activities for the second album (TV interviews,
lancing of video for the first single Freak).
2001_
- Freak tops Slovene video charts;
- new drummer Luka Salehar joins the band in February;
- Slovene release of the second album Loverboy in May;
- German / European release of Loverboy in June;
- additional keyboard player Luka Jamnik enters Niowt;
- excellent reviews of the new album both home and abroad.
2002_
- new bass player Tibor Mihelic joins the band;
- launching of the second video, shot for the title song Loverboy, extensive
media promotion of the video (radio, magazines, TV);
- song Freak chosen for the "Mystic Sounds 11" compilation,
published with the March edition of the German Zillo magazine;
- in March Niowt receives the third and forth Marsev Gojzar award for
being voted "best group 2001" by the audience and music editorial
board of the Mars radio station;
- in April, the band gives a solo performance at the most prestigious
Slovene cultural institution Cankarjev dom, accompanying the music with
video animations, and receives excellent reviews for it in all the major
magazines;
- in May Niowt performs at the biggest European dark music festival Wave
Gothic Treffen in Leipzig;
- song Loverboy (Peter Penko's dance remix version) chosen among 250 candidates
to appear at the prestigious Venusa XX part II compilation, dedicated
to female vocals in electronic music. Compilation is published by the
Alfa Matrix label in collaboration with Belgian magazine Side-line;
- launching and promotion of the third video from the Loverboy album,
shot for Wish.
2003_
-
preparation and recording of material for band's third solo album, cancellation
of all live gigs until Autumn 2003 to explore less obvious dimensions
of rock music through a number of projects.
- collaboration with acknowledged theatre director Matjaž Pograjc. Niowt
prepare about 80 minutes of original music for his performance Play It
Again, Caligula. The performance premieres on April 2 at the Slovensko
mladinsko gledališče (SMG) theatre.
- at the Second Slovene Festival of Chamber Theatres (Ptuj) Niowt receive
the award for best original score and soundtrack for Play It Again, Caligula.
- collaboration with DJ Umek.
