MEMORIALNI TURNIR ANTON PREINFALK 1911

Svet za problemski šah Šahovske zveze Slovenije je razpisal memorialni turnir v sestavljanju šahovskih problemov v spomin na starosto slovenskega problemskega šaha Antona Preinfalka, ki je preminil v svojem stotem letu starosti. Kot kompozitor šahovskih problemov je bil aktiven do svojih zadnjih dni. Objavil je prek 200 problemov vseh vrst, prvi originalni problem že v dvajsetih letih prejšnjega stoletja! Kot član državne reprezentance je s študijami sodeloval na ekipnem svetovnem prvenstvu pri starosti prek 90 let. Zadnjih 20 let je poskušal korektno prikazati temo 100 $, njegov najboljši dosežek je pozicija z le dvema črnima promoviranima figurama.

Tema memorialnega turnirja:

Pomožni mat v petih ali več potezah s prikazom vsaj enega excelsiorja (to je potovanje kmeta od začetnega polja do promocije) s promocijo v skakača, ne nujno v matni potezi problema. Dovoljene so promovirane figure, ne pa heterodoksne figure.

Turnirja se je udeležilo kar 50 problemistov iz 21 držav s skupno 124 originalnimi problemi. Za tovrstne turnirje so to izjemne številke.

Chess federation of Slovenia announced a tourney in memory of our oldest composer who recently passed away in his hundredth year. He was active as a composer until his very last days. He published more than 200 problems of all genres; his first original was published in twenties of the previous century! He entered the national team with endgames for the WCCT when he was over 90 years old. For the last twenty years he tried to compose a correct $100 helpmate, his best achievement was the position with only two black promoted pieces.

Helpmate in 5 or more moves showing at least one white or black excelsior (in five or six moves) ended with S-promotion (not necessary in the last move of the solution). Promoted pieces are allowed, but not fairy pieces.

50 composers from 21 countris with 124 originals participated which is an extraordinary figure for a memorial tourney.

V problemskih bazah je več sto problemov z zahtevano tematiko, vendar je na turnir prispelo zelo veliko novih in originalnih prikazov teme. Ob tako velikem številu prispelih problemov sem se odločil podeliti 7 nagrad in 7 častnih priznanj problemom, ki zadano temo prikazujejo na nov način. Poleg tega si pohvale zasluži še večje število problemov, ki se odlikujejo po ekonomičnosti pozicije ali zanimivi igri belega ali črnega. Pohvaljene so tudi nekoliko slabše ali drugačne izvedbe nagrajenih oz. že kdaj prej objavljenih problemov, ki sem jih našel v problemski bazi PDB (http://www.softdecc.com/pdb/index.pdb).

Hundreds of problems with demanded theme exist in databases but I still received a lot of new and original realizations of the theme. Regarding such a great number of originals I decided to grant 7 Prizes and 7 Honourable Mentions to problems which represent the theme in a new way. Some problems distinguished for economy and interesting white or black play also deserve to be commended as well as some problems in worse realization of higher placed or already published problems found in PDB (http://www.softdecc.com/pdb/index.pdb).

Zelo originalen prikaz dveh upočasnjenih excelsiorjev, ki se oba končata z matom s promocijo v skakača. Problem odlikuje raznovrstna črna in bela igra ter matni sliki na različnih delih šahovnice, posebno težo pa mu daje dejstvo, da je tema prikazana v dveh rešitvah, brez spreminjanja pozicije v dvojčkih.

Very original realization of two slow excelsiors which both end with a mate after a promotion to a knight in the last move. Very nice distinction is a diverse play of black and white. And all this is achieved without twins which gives an extra value to the problem.

Problem prikazuje kar tri rešitve z matno potezo s promocijo v skakača. Pri odločitvi o prvi nagradi je pretehtalo dejstvo, da je tukaj igra belega precej monotona in praktično enaka do zadnje poteze. Ideja je prikazana v obliki dvojčkov, kar je pri tej tematiki pomanjkljivost. Ekonomija je odlična.

There are even three solutions ended with S-promotions. The fact that white play is rather monotonous and almost the same till the last move decided about the first prize as well the realization in form of twins which is considerable imperfection in such type of problems. Very good economy.

Zagotovo najoriginalnejši od vseh prispelih problemov, ne samo tistih z eno samo rešitvijo. Presenečenje je že samo dejstvo, da ima beli prosto trdnjavo, a mora vseeno igrati pet potez s kmetom, ki se na koncu promovira v najšibkejšo figuro. Drugo presenečenje je zaključek z baterijskim matom s promocijo v skakača. Ne spomnim se, da bi tako matno potezo že kdaj videl pri dolgopoteznih pomožnih matih. Izredna ekonomija, vse figure razen belega kralja sodelujejo pri matu.

Without any doubt the most original of all entries not only among those with one solution. It is of a big surprise that white has free rook but he still has to play five moves with a pawn and promotes to the weakest piece at the end. The second surprise is the last white move - opening the T-P battery and mate with a promotion to the knight with double check. I don't remember I've ever seen this mating move in long helpmates. Exceptional economy, all pieces except wK take an active part in the final position.

V literaturi je že več problemov, ki prikazujejo mate s promocijama v damo in skakača v dveh fazah. Vendar je ta postava izjemna, saj temo prikazuje z le devetimi figurami in v dveh rešitvah, brez premikov pozicije v dvojčkih. Tudi tukaj se mat s promocijo v skakača konča z odpiranjem (ne tako atraktivne indirektne) baterije. Res neverjetno, da še nihče ni prišel do te pozicije.

A good deal of problems ended with promotions to knight and queen in two phases already exists. But this is one exceptional position representing the theme with only nine pieces in two solutions - without twins. The promotion to the knight is combined with opening of (not so spectacular indirect) L-P battery. It is incredible that nobody found this position before.

Še en prikaz dveh matnih zaključkov s promocijo v skakača. Raznolikost igre je dosežena z zanimivim premikom pozicije v dvojčku, kar pa pri problemu s potovanjem kmeta predstavlja zelo veliko spremembo pozicije. Dobra konstrukcija z aktivnima žrtvama črnega lovca in temo Umnov v zadnjih dveh potezah.

Another example of two promotions to a knight in the last move. Diversity of play is achieved by interesting twin which represents rather great change of a position in a problem with P-march. Good construction with two active black bishop sacrifices and two Umnows in the last moves.

Še en odličen enofazni problem. Rešitev je videti lahka, če bi črni kralj v treh potezah prišel na b7, beli pa bi enako kot v rešitvi promoviral na d8. Vendar se črnemu kljub temu, da ima več prostih figur, ne uspe žrtvovati na d8. Zato umakne obe figuri, ki že stojita na a8 in c8, rokira, z damo blokira polje a8 in se vrne s skakačen na c8. Prikazana je tudi recipročna tema Umnov na c8 - najprej se skakač umakne kralju, kasneje pa se kralj umakne istemu skakaču. Prosti beli lovec je le pika na i k tej odlični rešitvi.

Another brilliant one-liner. It looks like easy to solve it - bK needs three moves to b7 and wP could promote on d8 in the same way as in the solution. But black cannot make a sacrifice on d8 although he has a lot of available pieces. Therefore he first withdraws pieces which are already on a8 and c8, then castle and moves with queen to a8 and finally returns knight to c8. On c8 we can see reciprocal K-S Umnow. White bishop is just a dessert in this position.

Prikazana sta en hitri in en upočasnjeni excelsior. Zato je tudi mat enkrat s promocijo v zadnji potezi, enkrat pa se kmet promovira v peti potezi, nato pa igra in matira v šesti potezi. Dobra konstrukcija in determinacija potez. Prikazana je tudi tema Chumakov z Sa7 in Lb8 - enkrat figura blokira polje okrog svojega kralja, drugič pa se žrtvuje.

One fast and one slow excelsior. Therefore once the promotion is a mating move and once promoted knight plays after the promotion. Good construction and determination of moves. Chumakov theme with Sa7 and Lb8 - a piece once guards and once is taken.

Še en paradoksalen problem, ki si zasluži odlikovanje, saj ima beli damo v sredini šahovnice, ki pa na koncu le drži polja, matira pa promovirani skakač.

Zelo ambiciozen problem s kar štirimi rešitvami, ki se končajo z matom s promocijo. Morda delam avtorjema krivico, vendar imam občutek, da bi se idejo dalo realizirati tudi brez promoviranih figur.

Very ambitious entry with even four promotions to a knight in the last move. I might do wrong to the authors but I have a feeling that the idea could be realized without promoted pieces.
