Abstract

We describe the equipment of the physical laboratories of the high schools at lands inhabited by Slovenes in the last third of 19th century, when the exhibitions of school equipment paid the way for foundation of SŠM in Ljubljana. They exhibited mostly the equipment of elementary schools, while the rich high school laboratories were not often shown to public. Those high school laboratories are described in our work.

We estimated the amount of physical instruments of the high school laboratories at the land inhabited by Slovenes in the second half of 19th century, that were preserved until today. The partly conserved pieces of the high school laboratories from the 19th century are rich witnesses of our science past and are waiting for opportunities to represent themselves in the appropriate exhibitions.
