SHORT BIO:

Caroline Wanjiku Kihato is a Doctoral Fellow at the School for Graduate Studies at UNISA. Her research interests are urbanisation, with particular focus on African cities, migration, gender, urban governance, service delivery and processes of democracy in cities. She has worked as a Policy Analyst at the Development Bank of Southern Africa, as Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand and as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Policy Studies in Johannesburg.

Her research and teaching areas are around public policy in developing countries and participatory planning. Her research also includes the impact of migration in African cities, in particular in inner city Johannesburg.

She was also the editor of Development Southern Africa in the period 2005-2007 and published numerous articles in professional journals.
