INTRODUCTION

Spring Day 2004 has given the young people of Europe yet another opportunity to come together, get to know one another and work together as only friends can. The link that has been made has created unforgettable moments and in many cases everlasting friendships among people who were comlete strangers before.

It is evident from the number of schools registered in the project (5627) that we are not indifferent to what is going on in Europe. We all want to be a part of it. The main priority for this year's Spring Day was peace, due to the tragedy in Spain. That is why we all rang our peace bells on this day. Of course, we must not forget the other values (democracy, equality, tolerance, solidarity, freedom) that are also important if we are to live together in this new European space. Teaching the young about these values should not end in the classroom. It should become a way of life. Spring Day is one of the ways of making that happen.
