Ice-cave

The river Soca is the home of the autochthon fish called Soca trout.

The ground in our region is covered with brown soil and different vegetation grow well here. The most usual trees here are sweet chestnut-trees, beech-trees, oak-trees and other ones.

Our macroclimate condition is changeable because of our relief. Our submediteran climate reflects in mild winters, quite hot summers and the highest quantity of precipitation in Slovenia.

The nearest forests are covered mainly with broad-leaf trees, beech trees in the higher parts of the mountains also spruce-fir is more often.

We have to mention our speciality - Ice cave - called Paradana on Trnovo plateau where there is ice throughout the year. In the past the ice form the cave was exported to all parts of Europe even to Egipt. In this cave we can experience the temperature inersion.

Because of the fertile brown soil and specific climate here certain plants grow well. We can mention vine (Vinis vinifera), peache-trees, and lately also olive-trees.
