National Unesco ASPnet project Good news from Celje, Slovenia

Good news from our school

Our school is 'Eco' school and thus we have 'Eco' club,
which was established in school year 1995/96.

In eco club we take part in different activities with which we try to stimulate all pupils to develop humane relation to everybody and everything that is alive and to respect life.

Food for abandoned animals

We collect food for abandoned animals and donate it to ‘Društvo proti mučenju živali Celje’ (society fighting against torturing animals). Last year we collected 140 pieces of food (cans and dried food).

Collecting waste paper and batteries

For the sixth year in a row we have taken part in ecological activity of collecting waste paper and batteries. In this activity we strive for clean environment and thus protect nature from different chemicals and dangerous substances. The whole school takes part in this activity and our class teachers also help us. Every year we take part in a competition for the school that collects the biggest amount of waste paper and batteries. Our school did well in this competition in school year 1997/98, when we collected the biggest amount of waste paper and won a computer.

We collect batteries during the whole school year and give them away to our physics teacher, who is in charge of collecting old batteries. We usually collect waste paper three times a year.
