Welcome to Celje

The town of Celje expends over the banks of the Savinja river. It has got a very rich history - it has been setlled by Illyrians, Celts and Romans. In the 14th century the town of Celje was governed by the Counts of Celje, who built a beautiful castle on the hill above the town, which has been restored and enliven; so you are welcome to visit different exhibitions that take part in the castle or you can even get married in the castle in the way the knights did in the medieval times.

Celje is the third biggest town in Slovenia. It has always been known for its thriving trade, but nowadays industry is also a very important activity. Every year there is a traditional international trade fair 'MOS' in Golovec, where entrepreneurs from Slovenia and some foreign countries present their products and activities. The town offers many cultural events, such as concerts, exhibitions etc. and you're welcome to visit them.
