THE DECLENTION DIFFICULTIES

The name comes from the fruit of the beech tree.It sounds a little bit French with the accent on the last syllable. What does the sound of ®iri remind you of ? Honey? Doughnut? Probably not.More likely of a saw or a drilling machine.

The problem comes with the use of the word for Slovenes. There are many variations of the word. For example:

V ®iri - to ®iri
iz ®irov - from ®iri
v ®ireh - in ®iri
proti ®irem - towards ®iri
nad ®irmi - above ®iri
The people of ®iri are called ®IROVCI but are sometimes mistaken for ®IROVÈANI or even ®IRCI.You see.It is very difficult even for educated people on TV or radio. Not to mention the children at school.

Is ®iri a town or a village? Something in the middle. Is it known to Slovenes? It is known for Alpina, the shoe factory.®iri is on the border of three regions. So when we listen to the weather forecast, we know we will get a little bit of everything.
-some rain from Gorenjska
-some wind from Notranjska
-the sunshine from Primorska
®iri is surrounded by hills, forests and meadows.
