Let me point out one of the objectives of UNESCO, which is to contribute to peace and safety
through cooperation of different groups. By organizing a variety of activities connected to our
international art competition, we strive to reach this goal.
In 2012-2013 our activities have been based on this year’s school motto :«We give you
wisdom, you give us joy«. You, young artists from Slovenia and abroad, were invited to join
our big Unesco family. Art teachers find the theme of our competition rather challenging, but
you, young artists together with your mentors have once again proved that you can face the
challenge with your courage, zeal and creative enthusiasm.
Entries from Slovenia and other European and Asian countries were submitted in due time.
The diversity of received works of art is displayed in our extensive catalogue and on our
school’s web page. The exhibition of the selected entries can be visited at the premises of the
Agricultural Cooperative Cerklje na Gorenjskem.
The extraordinary quality of the young people’s works of art has persuaded us to set up the art
competition for the fifth consecutive year. We would like to thank our colleagues Maja, Matej,
Mimi, Nataša, Boštjan, Irena, and Irma for their help. Their enthusiasm enables us to gather
around young artists’ works of art every year. My sincere thanks also go to the headmistress
Damijana Božič - Močnik for all her support. Special thanks to Mr Miro Jenko from the Ag-
ricultural Cooperative Cerklje for his kind hospitality.
Traditionally the competition will be closed on the World Earth Day. It will be a good
opportunity for all the participants to learn something about our country and meet in person.
Everybody to our school learns to live in mutual respect and working atmosphere, thus
preparing for a creative life. This is the way people of different ages follow to achieve under-
standing and tolerance.
We hope to build a peaceful and safe future for all generations where joy and wisdom are
important objectives.
