My life has begun in a nice small town on the eastern track of Slovenia, called Murska Sobota . After all these years I realized that I was given a good education starting with high-school in Murska Sobota, Gimnazija and continuing at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana. I graduated from University of Ljubljana in 1999 and finished the postgraduate study in Laboratory of Robotics and Biomedical Engineering, where I was also employed as a junior researcher. Obtained the Doctor of Science (Ph.D) degree in 2003. My research interests include sensory information in moving objects, particularly human motion, control engineering, robotics, digital electronics, the use of virtual reality and also functional electrical stimulation in rehabilitation. As a student in 1998 I had a opportunity to work with Implanted Devices Group at University College of London (UCL) in the development of microcontroller unit for the implanted functional electrical stimulator. In 2000 I received the Preseren Award from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Ljubljana. In 2003 I was awarded a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for research at Tohoku University, Department of ECEI , Japan. From november 2003 I am also with the Research Division at the Institute for Rehabilitation Republic of Slovenia, Ljubljana, from 2006 as a Research Associate. In 2007/2008 I was a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo, Japan and held lectures in National Rehabilitation Center in Saitama and Tokyo Denki University. From 2009 I am also an Associate Professor at the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia. There are many other things I like to do besides work. Since travelling, literaly I mean backpacking, became my favourite way of getting in touch with other cultures, I have realized that life on this planet has many friendly faces no matter what language is spoken. And meeting nice people around the world inspired me to acquire some knowledge in several languages. Therefore I am fluent in english, spanish, hungarian, slovene, serbocroatian and german, while I can make myself understood in japanese as well. |
