My research interests span over a broad range of fluid mechanics; from
applied problems such as water turbine design, simulation and testing
to exotic studies like jellyfish swimming simulation. My current
research focusses three particular areas: cavitation, advanced water
treatment and viscoelastic fluid flow.
During the last few years I've worked extensively with colleagues from
Uni-Ljubljana (Slovenia), Arts et Métiers ParisTech Lille (France), TU
Darmstadt (Germany), Uni-Goettingen (Germany), University of Applied
Sciences Heidelberg (Germany), ZARM Bremen (Germany) and Legi Grenoble
(France).
By combining numerical simulations, analytical methods and experiments,
I want to paint a complete a picture of the physics behind the fluid
flow phenomena. In the coming years, I wish to continue to describe
fundamental aspects multiphase flows and flows of complex fluids. At
the same time, I plan to keep interacting with researchers in
neighbouring fields to ensure that my work remains ultimately driven by
actual applications.
