The hills of Haloze are made of marl and silicon sandstone, which are
sediments of the Miocene Panonic Sea. Many streams had furrowed them to
a great variety of hills. Such heterogeneous landscape and people with
their hearts so open can hardly be found anywhere else.
Cirkulane, once St. Barbara, is a real pearl in the middle of this
winegrowing district of Haloze. Its vineyard cottages among vineyards,
surrounded by orchards, luxuriant forests, and churches on exposed hill
– sides, attract the lovers of beauty. This luxurious coloring is a
delight to one’s eyes and causes a gentle restlessness in one’s soul. |
