The castle Borl, standing on a 70 m high cliff close to the river Drava,
silently connects the past with the present. Such harmony of the river,
mighty old architecture, and luxuriant vegetation, as seen here, is
rarely found in one place.
This castle was first mentioned in 1255. It was probably built by
Hungarians in the 12’th century. It changed a lot of landlords through
centuries. It experienced conquests, robberies, ruining, and
renovations. There is a beautiful green park next to forests to the
picturesque winegrowing hills with the homes of winegrowers of Haloze.
From here one can admire the relief of Haloze, and over Ptujsko polje,
the relief of Slovenske gorice.
