FESTIVAL KLEMENČIČEVI DNEVI

FREYER TEATER,

the theatre founded by painter Agata Freyer and director Edi Majaron, unites a number of puppet enthusiasts. They work on puppet projects which are characterized by a subtle feeling for a harmonious synthesis between the plastic, spatial and musical expression. Since it was founded in 1992, the theatre has produced four shows including a puppet ballet Trnjulčica (The sleeping beauty) and Pohujšanje v dolini Šentflorjanski (Scandal in the Valley [entflorjanska), both of which received great critical acclaim at international puppet festivals. Robert Waltl (based upon Christmas motifs): OSEL NAZARENSKI (The ass of Nazareth)

The tradition of Christmas motifs, for the first time finding expression in a puppet production, captured in the biblical story of the birth of Christ told by the ass, who narrates the Christmas story from his own perspective. The show is characterized by plastically very elaborate puppets, tiny sculptures based on the frescoes in the Church of St. Mary-on-the-Rock in Istria painted more than half a millennium ago by Master Vincent of Kastav.
